Fountain Cottage

Fountain Cottage is a compact studio within the Fountain Retreat I Pool & Sports Escape, built for two. The open-plan interior pairs a double bed with a small kitchenette and a full bathroom, finished in rustic style with plenty of natural light. Outside, a private patio opens onto shared gardens and the estate's communal pool.

The retreat sits in Barroselas, in the Minho countryside just a few minutes from Viana do Castelo. Village life here moves at its own pace, with local shops, family-run restaurants and seasonal fairs nearby, while green hills and valleys offer trails and bike paths for those who want to explore on foot or wheel. Viana do Castelo's historic centre, including the Santa Luzia Basilica, is a short drive away.

Days start slowly, coffee on the patio with the sound of the countryside for company, and end by the pool as the light softens over the fields. In between, there is little reason to rush.
