You're in Viana do Castelo, in Portugal's Minho region, with cycling routes, fishing and water sports close by, plus museums and shops in town for slower afternoons — horseback riding is also on offer for those who want to see the countryside at a different pace.
Days start on the balcony with coffee and the skyline below, move through long lunches at the outdoor table, and settle into evenings by the pool as the light drops over the rooftops. The kitchen, properly equipped, makes it easy to cook together rather than eat out every night.
