Guest Diary: From Barcelona to Portugal Active

Three Barcelona sports enthusiasts discover the Minho: mountain biking, kitesurfing, and the best cod roast they've ever tasted.
Three sports enthusiasts from Barcelona — Frederico, Núria, and Enric — travelled to Viana do Castelo in June 2018 for kitesurfing and mountain biking. What they found was an experience that went far beyond sport. From the first moment, Ricardo helped with everything. The accommodation surpassed expectations: a property with a fireplace ready, refreshments waiting, and every detail considered. Dinner at Taberna Afonso delivered what Frederico called the best cod roast he'd ever tasted. The mountain biking took them along the Lima River eco-route to Ponte de Lima — a fantastic ride beside the river between fields and trees, followed by a challenging 600-metre climb with 20% gradients to the summit. The afternoon brought kitesurfing at Cabedelo beach in perfect conditions. The verdict was unanimous: mind-blowing scenery, maximum comfort, great support, nature, sea, beach, adventure, friends, sports, and lots of fun. Everything a sports-focused holiday should be.
