Surf Lessons — Atlantic Waves on the Minho Coast

Learn to surf on Portugal's best Atlantic waves with certified instructors — private or small-group lessons on the beaches of the Minho coast.

The Minho coast is one of Portugal's best-kept surf secrets. While the crowds head south, the beaches around Viana do Castelo offer consistent Atlantic swells, long sandy breaks, and water warm enough for a wetsuit (not a drysuit). Praia do Cabedelo, in particular, is a world-class spot protected by the Lima River breakwater — creating conditions perfect for learning.

Our surf lessons are run by certified instructors who adapt to your level. Complete beginners start on the sand with technique and safety, then progress to the water with patient, hands-on coaching. Intermediate and advanced surfers get taken to the best break for the day's conditions — your instructor knows every sandbank, every tide shift, and every local secret.

All equipment is provided: premium surfboards (soft-tops for beginners, hard boards for advanced), wetsuits, and rash guards. Groups are kept small — maximum 6 per instructor — so you get real attention and real progress.

After the lesson, Cabedelo Beach is one of the Minho's finest stretches of sand. Stay, dry off, and watch the waves. Your instructor can point you to the best beach bar for a post-surf drink.
