This four-bedroom house sits among vineyards, forest and mountains in Moreira do Lima, its rooms opening onto a garden and private pool. Inside, a mix of double and single beds sleeps up to ten, with a dining table, wood-burning fireplace and a kitchen built for cooking slowly rather than quickly.

A small clear river runs nearby, reached on foot along local trails, and a traditional tapas restaurant sits within easy reach. Ponte de Lima, Portugal's oldest village, is under ten minutes by car, while the beaches of Viana do Castelo and the entrance to Peneda-Gerês National Park are both a manageable drive away.

Mornings start slowly here, coffee on the patio with the mountains still in shadow. Afternoons might mean a swim, a bike ride along quiet lanes, or a game of ping pong in the garden before the light softens for an evening by the fire.
