Viana do Castelo is one of Portugal's most beautiful cities, and the best way to see it is on two wheels. This e-bike tour takes you from the historic centre to the summit of Monte de Santa Luzia, along the Atlantic coastline, and through trails that most visitors never discover.
The electric motor handles the climbs so you can focus on the views. At the top of Santa Luzia, the panorama stretches from the Lima River to the Atlantic — with the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowning the hilltop, visible from kilometres away. Your guide shares stories about the city's maritime history, its art deco architecture, and the fishing traditions that still define life here.
The route includes a mix of paved streets, coastal paths, and off-road forest trails — the e-bike handles all of it. Stops for photos, water, and local snacks are built into the route. Groups are kept to a maximum of 10 riders for safety and to maintain a relaxed, personal pace.
Fat bike option available for those who want to take the off-road sections more seriously. Both bike types are premium quality with full suspension and powerful motors.
Your driver collects you from your Portugal Active villa. At the starting point, your guide fits you with a premium e-bike (or fat bike), helmet, and gives a quick orientation on the controls.
Ride through the cobblestone streets of Viana do Castelo's historic centre — past the art deco buildings, the medieval church, and along the Lima riverfront.
The e-bike motor makes the ascent to Monte de Santa Luzia effortless. At the top, the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a 360-degree panorama over the city, river, and ocean. Photo stop.
Descend via forest trails and coastal paths to Praia do Cabedelo. Feel the salt air as you ride along the Atlantic. Snack and water break on the beach.
Complete the loop back to the starting point. Return your bike and your driver takes you back to your villa — or stay in town for lunch (your guide can recommend the best spots).

No. The e-bike motor assists on every climb. If you can ride a bicycle, you can do this tour. The pace is set by the group — your guide adapts.
The e-bike is ideal for mixed terrain (roads + light trails). The fat bike has wider tyres for sand and rougher off-road sections. Both have electric motors. Tell us your preference when booking.
Children aged 12 and above who can ride a bicycle independently are welcome. We have bikes in different sizes.
Light rain does not stop the tour. For heavy rain, we reschedule or offer a full refund. You will be contacted the evening before.
