This is the ride you will still be talking about a year from now. Starting from a traditional working ranch on the outskirts of Viana do Castelo, you will be matched with a horse that suits your experience level — from absolute beginner to confident rider — by one of our certified instructors.

The route takes you through the flower fields and pine forests that blanket the foothills above the Lima Valley, with panoramic views that stretch from the Serra d'Arga mountains to the Atlantic. The final stretch follows the coastline: a beach ride at golden hour, the sound of hooves on wet sand, the salt air in your hair.

Every detail is taken care of. We pick you up from your Portugal Active villa, provide all safety equipment, and keep groups small — never more than 8 riders — so that the instructor can give individual attention to every guest. Water, a photo souvenir, and a post-ride refreshment at the ranch are included.

This experience is available year-round, weather permitting. Spring (April to June) is the most spectacular season, when the fields are in full bloom and the light is extraordinary. During bathing season, there are legal restrictions on horseback riding on the beach sand — the route is adapted accordingly with equally stunning coastal trails.
