How to answer to this question: should I go to Algarve or discover the Alentejo coastline? It’s easy and simple with few tips. You just need to pick the arguments and you’ll have the solution. So… if you’re addict for fancy and stylish hotels and restaurants, go to Algarve. If you feel alone when you’re not in the middle of a crowd, go to Algarve. If you just wish to stay at the sun and enjoy the smell of sun cream, go to Algarve. Golf… go to Algarve. If you like to feel at home when you travel with shops and restaurants like the ones you’ve at home… go to Algarve. If you feel comfortable with busy roads, go to Algarve. What about Alentejo? If you enjoy nature and unexplored places, go to Alentejo. If you like the feeling of free space, go to Alentejo. If you love to mix with local people and share his rural heritage, go to Alentejo. The smell of the ocean, empty beaches… Alentejo. The tasty food, familiar restaurants… Alentejo. If you always search new experiences and the singularity of each place, go to Alentejo. If you’re tired of massive tourism… Alentejo coastline is definitely your choice.

“A team of paleontological research in the Alentejo coast discovered the first known in Europe traces the social behavior of old elephant and found trails of footprints of extinct animals more than 30 thousand years”. Amazing discovers that tell us more about the habitat of the Alentejo coastline and his evolution. During our walking and cycling trips many of our visitors make some comments about the diversity of landscape and how similar it looks to Africa… indeed!

Waves, fun, board, barbecue, activity, relax, friability… words that mix with our flexibility and accommodation. For the surfers who have visited us it’s a surprise when they see the amazing beaches and feel the warm welcome from local people. This unexplored coastline offers unique conditions for the surf lovers. From springtime to early winter the coastline offers perfect waves to all sizes: beginners/ experts. Our guesthouse Casa da Eira is the base and the perfect spot in Vila Nova de Milfontes village where people find good restaurants and bars in a relax and local style… yap, I must tell you in Alentejo things go slow, so bring yourself and a guitar and let’s do it!

The things we do to provide a good quality service: get into the jipe and find some of the undiscovered tracks through rough paths and sometimes get ourselves involved in traps. That’s the case. The sky almost empty of water, the ground still’s mudy, the jipe unbalanced and we… we smile and enjoy each bit of the work. In the end we found a nice track from Aljezur and Amoreira beach. All this to prepare a new walking trip in partnership with the French company Allibert. Hard work must be done

Good Vibrations

Let’s do it and do it and do it and do it and do it! One full week with you and you and you… all your family, the big ones, the smallest, the thins and the others, your cousins, wife, sister… let’s do it: Surf, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, High Ropes…The Alentejo coastline it’s the perfect spot for those who seek good vibrations.

The kids and I had a great holiday. Was not quite sure what to expect when I booked but it more than lived up to expectations. The scenery on the 4th day was spectacular, it was like something out of a movie. We enjoyed each day. Duncan, in particular, loved every bit of this holiday and was a natural at most things. (Scared me lots!!!) He is quite disappointed that he will not meet you guys again. I would like to thank each one of your staff for the attention they gave us and how good they were with my children. A great week. Thanks to everyone. It was fantastic to be able to swim in the river and waterfalls/pools-you are right to be very proud of the Alentejo region! The instructors/leaders were very professional and were able to help me to face my fear of heights and abseil down the cliff. They were also very flexible in their approach and went out of their way to cater for our needs. Roy and Maria helped to make it even more fun! How about walk and cycle through endless undulating wheat fields, forests of cork trees, meandering rivers and country roads where farm animals and horse drawn carts are still a common sight and above all else you’ll find hospitable and friendly local people. All this will contrast with the magnificent and wild coastline of Alentejo. Taste these images and just imagine!

We had already beautiful rooms, filled with color, very comfortable, some overlooking the sea and river, a garden to sunbathe and do a barbecue, and Sonya with his sympathy and care … but for us this is not enough. Those who visit us for a biking or walking program deserve more and better services. Therefore we have taken the winter and put to work. It feels great that you can bring down the first wall and designing new spaces. We will have an area for breakfasts and snacks … then will come the pool … and then will reach our customers… you!

First of all… ALENTEJO… a vast, rural area of flat plains speckled with cork oaks and olive trees, the flatness broken by the “Monte” or low hill on which a large estate or small village will be perched. It is hot – really hot in Summer – requiring irrigation for the many and large vineyards. The Alentejo was the standard bearer for Portugal’s wine revolution, adopting modern winegrowing methods with great results and international critical acclaim. Best known for red wines which are generally full-bodied, fruity and suitable for aging. Reds make a fine pairing with pasta, white meat, red meat, game and strong cheese. The wine and gastronomy are a well preserved heritage and something to include in your route.

Sometimes life show us how to do it and new windows of opportunities appear. That’s exactly what happened with triathlon and Alentejo Adventures. Long time ago we’ve received an email email from a well known triathlon athlete in England. Richard Alan become famous with the Olympic Games and after a while he started to coach athletes. He found us in the Internet and after changing some emails we set a training camp. It was a really success and we’ve learned a lot. It was winter. He arrived with 9 athletes and clearly they wish to do it with sunny condition. Luckily we were blessed with the Sun. But they also wish good training conditions and good accommodation and good assistance and good food and some fun. They had it all. In the end they’ve all underline the privilege and the natural conditions of the area, the empty roads and the very peculiar and friendly people they’ve meet. They have swam in the river, also in a Olympic swimming pool, they’ve cycled along empty roads, they’ve sing during the warm dinners and they’ve rest comfortably at Casa da Eira. We were honored to take care of the group during those days. After that we knew we we’re prepared to offer a great training camp.
